iPad 3G remains completely sold out at US Apple retail stores

Checks with 50 Apple retail stores found that the iPad 3G remains completely sold out in the U.S. weeks after its release and 7 days ahead of the device’s international launch.
Analyst Gene Munster with Piper Jaffray said his team contacted representatives at 50 Apple retail stores and found that 74 percent of them were sold out of all models of the iPad, with the Wi-Fi model available in 26 percent of stores, and the 3G version sold out. It’s been the same story for Apple since the iPad 3G first launched on April 30 in the U.S.
Apple shipping iPad preorders, opens international App Store, iBookstore

A week before the iPad arrives in nine new countries, Apple has begun shipping some international preorders, and has also opened overseas versions of the iPad App Store and iBookstore.
Some in the U.K. who purchased an iPad overseas notified AppleInsider on Friday that that their order has officially shipped. One order, placed on May 9, had its status updated to “shipped,” though an estimated delivery date was not listed.
As with the U.S. launch, Apple has likely ensured that deliveries will not be made until Friday, May 28 — the international sale date. Stateside customers who tracked their order through UPS saw the shipment sit in a holding pattern for days before the Saturday, April 3 delivery.

After a San Francisco, Calif., news report highlighted a woman who was denied the ability to purchase an iPad with cash, Apple has reversed its policy and rewarded the woman by giving her the hardware for free.
Diane Campbell lives on a fixed income, and saved up money to buy an iPad from an Apple store in San Francisco. But when she attempted to purchase the device with cash, she was denied, based on an Apple policy designed to ensure the product is fairly distributed as the hardware is in short supply.

I must be while since a single company has recieved this much exposure from the leading publications in Germany. Not a day goes by without front page news and articles about Apples iPad and the company in general.
They call him the philosopher of the 21st century, they praise and condemn him, they analyse him and warn the public from the evergrowing power of the mighty Steve. Tabloids like Bild got a piece on him every second day, partly because Apple refused to accept an Bild app with the title girl undressing. And the show must go on.
I’m sure Apple doesn’t mind at all….

When Pamela Kerwin and Steve Jobs met for the first time in 1989, she was Vice President for Marketing at Pixar and Jobs a man without a goal. Apple, his life’s work, had just named somebody else it’s CEO. Jobs had left, taken over a CAD department of Lucas Fims for 10 mio dollars and formed that into Pixar.

The newspaper industry may be hoping Apple’s iPad will be their savior, but just putting the printed word online won’t be enough. The time has come for creativity and a new approach to the way content is delivered.
Jennifer Brook’s interesting statement at the iPad presentation was somewhat lost amid the hype over Steve Jobs’ new tablet computer. The New York Times manager said that her paper’s iPad app had “captured the essence of reading a newspaper.”

April 5th, 2010 Seems like Apple hit the ground running with the new iPad. Experts estimate sales from 600.000 to 700.000 of the Tablet computer during the first weekend.
Apple only expected to sell around 400,000 for starters.
Sales started Saturday in Apples own 221 stores and in 673 Best Buy stores. Hours before official opening times thousands of customers where waiting in front of the stores, and security was busy keeping people in line.
Many had pre-ordered, others just took their chances.
But at the end of the day there where still some available in many stores. According to many experts Apple enters a risky adventure. Touchpad Screens and computers have been around for about 10 years, but hardly anybody bought them. But, Apples marketing machine is going to change this forever.
This is because all the iPhone Apps will also run on the iPad. Publishing houses will deliver books, videos and news pages.
